December 2 - We're spinning up and preparing for AOL 9.6!

The AOL Client Windows Team is preparing 9.6 for beta release and, in advance of bringing you Beta 1, we have a special request; please download, install and use 4337.162, our "beta 0" build.

Why a "beta 0" you might ask? Bringing everyone up-to-date and onto a single pre-release build will allow us to establish a baseline of operational performance from which we can compare the success of each following release.

Users who have installed this release will automatically receive Beta 1 when it becomes available via Automatic Updates.

What's new in 9.6 beta 0?

Very little has changed from the latest 9.5 refresh, particularly in anything that you would visibly notice; even the branding still shows AOL 9.5. However rest assured, this is our AOL 9.6 pre-Beta 1 release.

In this build, we have:

  • Turned on some facets of software diagnostics
    This will allow greater volumes of automated reporting to ensure a variety of issues you encounter are captured and identified. The types of issues we're watching for are crashes, abnormal disconnects, inability to sign on and the like.
  • Disabled client based error suppression
    This may expose more client errors when experienced

Don't fret though. In Beta 1, we'll make sure it clearly reflects AOL 9.6 and begin rolling in some nifty new features for you to test and enjoy.

Where are the Known and Fixed Issues?

As this release has no specific fixes included from the latest GM (4337.155) or GM candidate (4337.149), and we do not believe we've introduced any new experience for which you should be aware, there are no issues to list.

Of course, should you encounter anything you believe represents something we should be aware of, please make sure to send feedback
