October 14, 2009 - Beta 3 is now available!

Desktop for Mac 1.6 beta 3 (1.6.634) is here, sporting a variety of fixes and other changes. As always your feedback is appreciated.

Fixed in Beta 3:

Embedded graphics in HTML e-mail issue has been fixed with the installation Safari 4.0.3. Safari 4.0.3 updated the underlying web rendering engine used by many Macintosh applications, including AOL Desktop for Mac 1.6.
Added code to detect duplicate or corrupt messages in mail database. This should delete the corrupt message and fetch original from host.
Changed mail reply to use standard email addresses rather than additional info supplied in message header.
Fixed duplicate folders in mail database. Corrupt database will be replaced.
Improved mail UI responsiveness.
Added detect and reject code for corrupt mail database.
Message deletes should be reflected in the UI immediately.
Fixed issue which prevented inline images from being displayed.
Improved performance of initial mail fetch with large inbox.
Mail updates should now properly display subject and sender.
Other changes might rectify mail activity spinner properly terminating.
Mail in Read folder will be marked as read.
Initial Sign in with any SN causes Crash.
Tab focus on - Save attachment does not work as expected.
Mails that are unread and saved in On AOL display "Msg Content Loading..."

Other changes in Beta 3:

Added alert sheet to inform user that the mailbox is being optimized. This will happen on a clean install or if a mail database corruption has been detected. The sheet should only be seen once.

There remain some Known Issues for AOL Desktop for Mac please make sure to review them.

Fixed in Beta 2:

Embedded graphics in HTML e-mail issue has been fixed with the installation Safari 4.0.3. Safari 4.0.3 updated the underlying web rendering engine used by many Macintosh applications, including AOL Desktop for Mac 1.6.
Fixed issues that may have caused "Message Content Loading" to occur for some users.
User should be able to move the browser window by holding the status bar like Safari 4.0.3.
Fixed issues with mail Signatures.
Fixed an issue where a question mark was displayed in place of the graphic - seen across the forwarded mail content even inspite of the preference been enabled and disabled.
Fixed an issue where SN causes a crash during initial Sign In.
Blocked images in mail should now be viewable by clicking "Show Images." This was issue was introduced with Safari 4.x.
Resolved Issues concerning switching screen names with Address Book and launch with WebKit.
Multiple fixes to AOL Address Book.
Various bug fixes and performance improvements.

Other changes in Beta 2:

Growl notifications have now been added to AOL Desktop for Mac.

There remain some Known Issues for AOL Desktop for Mac please make sure to review them.

August 5, 2009 - AOL Desktop for Mac 1.6 is now available!

Welcome back testers! The first beta release of AOL Desktop for Mac 1.6 is now available for download and addresses a number of issues that have appeared since 1.5 was released. As always, we look forward to your feedback.

What is fixed in 1.6?

Overall improvements and optimizations for Mail. Mailbox optimization process has been added and will improve mail performance.
Fixed embedded mail graphic issue for Safari 4 users.
Fixed attachments using AppleDouble encoding.
Fixed in-line attchments to mail messages.
Fixed various memory issues to improve stability of application.
Fixed a mail duplication issue when mail is moved from Inbox to a folder and back again.
Fixed naming of folders with special characters.
Fixed an issue when attempting to rename a mail folder.
Emoticons will now render correctly when viewing AIM logs.

There are some new Known Issues as well, make sure to check them out.

Important Notes:

Users with large mailboxes may experience increased Mail Activity on first sign-in while we optimize your mailbox. Optimization time depends on the speed of your Macintosh, your Internet connection and number of mail messages in your mailbox. You may continue to read and send mail while mail optimization is running. You can view the status of the mail optimization by viewing the Mail Activity progress in the lower left side of the mailbox.

Other Beta User Notes:

Both the GM version of AOL Desktop for Mac 1.5 and AOL Desktop for Mac 1.6 Beta 1 will coexist on the same Macintosh.
When we released AOL Desktop for Mac 1.0-1.5, we changed the mail folder structure so that you can try out new betas of AOL Desktop without changing your GM setup. You can move your mail folder between Beta and GM by moving the mail folders located under ~User/Application Support/ on your Mac OS X user account.
