January 5 - AOL Desktop with support for MCOM.com email addresses is out of beta and publicly available!
In late November, we asked you to test a version of the AOL Desktop (10.1) software to qualify operation with MCOM.com and other newly supported email domains. We're proud to announce that, with your help, we've determined this release is ready for the public and therefore graduated it from beta to GM.
If you participated in this test and are not using the latest GM release, please update as soon as possible. We don't want you to be left behind on a no longer applicable beta release.
Thanks for your participation in this test as well as your continued testing of the MCOM.com mail domain.
What is the MCOM Mail Beta Test
AOL is conducting a beta of mail using the new mcom.com domain. You will be able to sign-up for any available username (user@mcom.com) and use it as your identity across AOL's product and services. Best of all, you will be able to login to your new mailbox and send/receive email at your newly created address.
The purpose of this important mcom.com mail beta is to test not just the new @mcom.com domain but a new mail server architecture. While you may not notice many product differences between your normal email account and the new @mcom.com address, just by using your new address, you are providing us with very valuable information. So, just use your new @mcom.com address as you normally do - read, write, and send e-mail, and take advantage of all the great features:
Free Email Storage: keep important messages as long as you like
Easier Messaging and Sharing: Compose email, IM, and text messages all from one place
Instant access to news and Events: Top news stories, your calendar and more
Access Your Email anywhere: Send and receive messages from any internet-connected computer or mobile device
Integrated Buddy List: Now your AIM Buddy List feature is built right in to your inbox. So you can send friends an instant message with just one click
Please Note: This beta is for our Webmail client only. You can NOT use your new mcom.com address with AOL 9.x, however you can use it with the latest AOL Desktop clients. Also, you cannot register a new mcom.com address through AOL software clients. However, you can still participate and register using an external browser, such as, Internet Explorer or Firefox.
